There is a community not far from here where an evil mayor ruled the people of the town. This mayor was elected by the people because he had so many great ideas on how the people could better themselves. These ideas were revolutionary, and included things such as vastly improved income to the family from both husband and wife working, professionally run schools for children, church activities for every age group, just to name a few. These ideas allowed parents the freedom to pursue their own individual goals without being bogged down by their families. The people embraced these ideas with open arms and loved the mayor. They were confident in his ability to look out for the best interests of the people in the town.
Over time, new children were born into these families and were easily integrated into these revolutionary ideas. To sell more products, businesses were strongly encouraged to develop advertising campaigns that associated their products with scantily clad and seductive women. This idea caught on quickly, and was one of the more popular ideas of the mayor. The business owners loved the idea, as it produced huge profits from increased credit card sales. The people marveled at the newly constructed bank building. The president of the bank gave a speech at the local meeting hall thanking the people for all their loans and credit card business which funded the largest building in town. The town was prospering, and everyone loved it!
Shortly after flooding the airwaves with this new style of advertising, many strange problems began to surface. Personal crimes of all types began to become almost commonplace. Scandals among prominent men in the town often resulted in unwanted pregnancies, so those involved were encouraged to quietly take care of it before anyone found out. The resulting emotional aftermath was never spoken about, but merely shoved aside and covered by more pleasurable activities. It was just part of life, and to be expected.
As the children in the town grew up, they saw that "life was good", and followed in the footsteps of their parents, guided by the edicts of the mayor. Within one generation, nearly everyone in the town was following the guidelines of the mayor. It became a well established "normal" way of life.

It was beautifully done, and was very attractive to the people. The people were very happy with the way things were going, and found no need to leave or "rock the boat", they had the perfect place to live. When problems did occur, the mayor blamed it on those who did not incorporate his ideas. Those who questioned his tactics and motives were made public spectacles, and were humiliated in front of everyone, especially by the media.

You see, instead of considering the facts and searching the truth for themselves, they allowed others to do their thinking for them.
